A User is considered to be an identifiably distinct computer connected to your Web site. Because Users are identified by the computer address that allows an Internet connection, it is sometimes difficult to identify individual users. Most ISPs use a common computer to connect their Users to the Internet. This group of Users show up as one User to the Web Server.

User Agent

The type of Client used to view a Web page. In the context of Log analysis, User Agents are the Browser versions most commonly used. Netscape Communicator 4.05 Windows95 is an example of a User Agent.

An account identifier. Used in conjunction with a Password, Usernames allow a computer to check the validity of a Client's access to a Secure area.
