SSL
Secure Sockets Layer. SSL was developed by Netscape Communications
Corporation to provide security and privacy over the Internet. SSL encrypts
data between Web Servers and Web Browsers. Frontier Total Web uses SSL to protect your
Secure Web pages, like Order Forms.
Search Engine
A search engine is a program that searches through and indexes data. In the
context of the Web, the phrase "search engine" is most often used for
search forms that search through databases of HTML documents and Web sites.
Secure
Safe from unwanted access. Frontier Total Web utilizes various technologies and
methods to Secure sensitive information, including but not limited to SSL,
PGP and http authentication.
Shopping Cart
A Shopping Cart Program can make shopping on your site easier for your
clients. By storing information about your shopper's selections, a Shopping
Cart allows users to browse your entire site, picking items they would like
to purchase before they leave your Web site. A Shopping Cart is not
necessary for Secure Transactions; it is an added convenience for your
customers. Shopping Cart Applications are available for an additional fee.
Sidebar
A type of Web page Background. Sidebars are used to denote an area of the
Web page for Navigational and Promotional content. Usually a Sidebar is a
different color from the rest of a document, and is placed to the left of
the Web page, with Navigational elements, like buttons, over it.
Simple Modification A change to the text of a Web site unless it involves more than 50 words or changes the layout of the page. A Simple Modification also includes adding text, deleting text, spelling corrections, increasing/decreasing size of text, bolding, underlining, italicizing, and alignment (centering, justifying). Modifications to images are considered simple if the manipulations include lightening or darkening, pallette manipulation, cropping, bordering, and resizing.
Single Key
A method for Encrypting Data. Single Key Encryption methods are considered
to be unsafe.
Spam
In the context of the Internet, Spam is unsolicited e-mail. If an
advertiser sends out e-mail to persons that did not ask for it, they are
Spamming. Internet Junk Mail. Spam is considered rude, and may be
considered illegal by the US federal government soon.
