HREF
An HREF is a hypertext reference in HTML used to denote a link to a
document on the Web. The tag <A HREF="http://www.frontiretotalweb.com">Home Page</A>
makes the words "Home Page" link to the Frontier Total Web home page.
HTML
Hypertext Markup Language. The language of the Web, HTML uses tags to
specify how Web pages function and are displayed.
Hacker
Hacker can describe both an experienced computer programmer, and someone
who illegally tampers with computer systems and information.
Hits
The number of files sent by a Web Server to a User-Agent as the result of a
request. If your homepage contains eight images, the total number of files
requested is actually nine - the home page HTML file, and the Images
included on that page. Images, like the buttons and pictures on each page
of your Web site, are individual files and will generate a "HIT".
Hosting
Hosting refers to housing your Web site files. Your Web site is hosted on a
Web server connected to the Internet. The Host Computer responds to
requests from computers connected to the Internet.
HTTP
Hypertext Transfer Protocol. The rules by which machines transfer hypertext
documents and files.
Hyperlink
A link created with HTML that can send a user to the hyperlinked file, send
a user to a location within a file, or download or display a file.
Hyperlinks are the "click here" thingys you see on the Web.
